Brow & Forehead Lift Procedures in Morehead City & Jacksonville NC

Brow Lift Procedure Description
Brow Lift Procedure | Jacksonville and Morehead City, NC

Sometimes your upper facial structure can send the wrong impression about you. There is a solution to this problem. The Brow Lift procedure raises the level of the eyebrows, decreases forehead creases and eliminates frown lines. A brow lift is an effective way to show off your confidence without saying a word.

There are two brow lift approaches to raising your eyebrows. Dr. Klainer will discuss the merits of each technique with you at your initial consultation to determine which brow lift procedure is the most appropriate for your particular circumstances and goals.

Brow and Forehead Lift in Jacksonville and Morehead City, NC

The open or traditional brow lift method allows consistent, long-lasting elevation. It is usually accomplished through an incision in the hair extending across the scalp. This type of brow lift will affect both the medial and lateral brow. The frontalis and the glabellar muscles, ones located between the brows, are weakened or cut thereby decreasing wrinkles in these areas. The main disadvantage of this brow lift technique is the long incision, possibly limiting its use in men with receding or thinning hair.

The less invasive approach to brow lift surgery is to use an endoscope (a small television camera) to raise the skin of the forehead. This brow lift technique works best on the medial brow and affects only the glabellar muscles, located between the brows. This brow lift technique is not as effective for the more severe cases of brow ptosis. However, this brow lift procedure allows the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to be repositioned, altered or removed, correcting the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead.

Dr. Klainer typically closes brow lift incisions with removable or absorbable sutures or special clips as appropriate to the particular case.

Brow Lift Downtime & Discomfort:

Before brow lit surgery and for your safety, you may have to undergo lab tests and/or a medical evaluation. Depending on the situation, some brow lift patients may require new medications or an adjustment of existing medications. All brow lift patients are requested to stop smoking well in advance of surgery. In addition, patients should avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding. Dr. Klainer will discuss these matters in detail, as well as anesthesia to be used at your brow lift pre-op consultation.

Initial wound healing from brow lift surgery may take 5 to 10 days, at which time Dr. Klainer will remove any sutures or clips. You will be ready to return to work and normal activity at this time. Cosmetics can camouflage any bruising that remains. Healing will continue for several weeks as the swelling dissipates and brow lift incision lines refine and fade. It may take several months for complete recovery.

The level of discomfort you can expect from brow lift surgery is moderate and can be easily managed by medications. Should you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Klainer immediately.
