Recovering From Cosmetic Surgery in Jacksonville and Morehead City, NC
The day has come! You’ve finally had the procedure you’ve been researching, debating, and waiting forever to have. So… what happens next? The time it takes to recover fully varies from procedure to procedure and person to person. These are the general recommended amounts of time to take off work and take it easy following these different common cosmetic surgeries:
Breast Augmentation/Breast Lift: 1 week
Liposuction: 1 week
Tummy Tuck/Mommy Makeover: 3-4 weeks
Brow Lift: 1-2 weeks
Face Lift: 2 weeks
In addition to physical recovery, you might be dealing with some emotional recovery as well. No matter how well thought out and wanted your cosmetic surgery was, it’s still a change to your physical appearance that will probably take an adjustment period before it feels normal.Like any recovery or coping process, there are stages you may go through as you get used to the new you:
What have I done? (3-5 days after surgery)
You’ll be resting and recovering, you’ll be bored, and you’ll have way too much time alone with your thoughts. This will pass.
I don’t recognize myself (1-2 weeks after surgery)
As you start to accept the results of your surgery, you may have a little trouble meshing your identity with the person you see in the mirror.
Have I made a mistake? (3 weeks – 3 months after surgery)
So you have this new body, or new face, or new look, but it is it the right look for you?
I love me! I’m glad I got this surgery (3-6 months after surgery)
Just wait, your lightbulb moment is coming. The vast majority of cosmetic surgery patients love their results.
